Delia Neil

Ms. Neil is a professional choreographer and master teacher. She recently was named a 2003 Finalist for the Bank of America Award for Teaching Excellence at UNC Charlotte. A 1996 recipient of the NC Arts Council Choreography Fellowship, her choreography includes works for the concert stage, theatre productions, and collaborative works with visual artists, as well as work from the classical ballet repertory. She has choreographed for the award winning productions by the Children’s Theatre of Charlotte, which include The Crane Wife, Tales of Edgar Allen Poe, Ice Wolf, and Treasure Island. As a yearly visiting artist at Randolph-Macon Woman’s College, Ms. Neil teaches ballet technique classes and creates new work for the Spring Dance Concert. At UNC Charlotte, Ms. Neil teaches a wide variety of courses which include Explorations in Shakespeare, a unique course taught by a choreographer, director and Shakespeare specialist. Receiving certification in Pilates, she now includes Pilates mat work in her teaching repertoire. As a performer, Ms. Neil danced with the Cincinnati Ballet and the Baltimore Ballet and was engaged as a guest artist with many ballet companies throughout the country. In New York City , Ms. Neil trained with Gabriella Taub-Darvash and taught at Ballet Hispanico, Zena Rommett and Hunter College.
